Revitalizing Pangasinan Traditional Industries: A Training/Writeshop on Research Grant Proposal Writing

Anchored on the objective of the CPS to strengthen the research capabilities of Pangasinan HEIs, a 2-day training write shop on Research Grant Proposal Writing was conducted from March 31 to April 1, 2017.

The capability-building activity was facilitated by faculty and administrators from the University of the Philippines Baguio: Dr. Raymundo D. Rovillos (then Chancellor), Dr. Corazon L. Abansi (Professor of Management Economics, now Chancellor), and Dr. Santos Jose O. Dacanay III (Professor of Management Economics, now Vice Chancellor for Administration).

Aside from developing research proposals, the resource speakers also discussed the business and economic aspects of revitalizing traditional industries in Pangasinan.

As an output, five (5) topics for possible research grant proposals were developed namely: Pottery, Brickmaking, Popped Rice, Nipa shillings (“pinaor”), and Blacksmithing.

The training workshop was attended by 70 select faculty and researchers of the five HEIs of the CPS consortium.
