CPS prepares for ICPBS 2023 and Pangasinan Artisinal Fair

Last February 10, the CPS Executive Committee convened to discuss and finalize plans for the conduct of two (2) major projects this year: the IPATAWIR: Pangasinan Artisanal Fair and the International Conference on Pangasinan and Bulosan Studies (ICPBS) 2023.

The Artisanal Fair, which is slated for April 27–29, 2023, will serve as a platform for the creative presentation of the four (4) CPS research projects anchored on the revitalization of Pangasinan artisanal industries, namely: salt-making, brickmaking, blacksmithing, and pottery. The fair will also provide a space for local artisans and creatives to sell their crafts and other creative works.

The international conference, which is scheduled for November 27–29, 2023, is currently accepting abstracts for paper or oral presentations. With the theme “Expanding the Frontiers of Knowledge on Pangasinan,” the conference aims to bring multi and interdisciplinary studies on Pangasinan closer not only to the Pangasinan locale but to the global community in general.

The conference is also being held in commemoration of the 110th Birth Anniversary of Carlos Bulosan – a son of Binalonan, Pangasinan. The ICPBS 2023 will provide a venue for the dissemination of knowledge on Bulosan’s life and works as a global literary and social movement icon.

In attendance were: Dr. Perla E. Legaspi (CPS Executive Director), Dr. Raymundo D. Rovillos (CPS Consultant on Research & Development), Ms. Maria Luisa Amor-Elduayan (Provincial Tourism & Cultural Affairs Officer), Mr. Nathaniel Joel M. Daroy (Culture & Arts Office III, PTCAO), Mr. Nicanor Germono, Jr. (CPS Executive Assistant), Dr. Cynthia P. Lopez (VP for Research Innovation & Management, Lyceum-Northwestern University), Mr. Adele S.
