Cultural Mapping is the participatory process of identifying, documenting, and recording the distinct and significant cultural assets and properties of a locale or community. The produced baseline data out of cultural mapping, a Local Cultural Profile (LCUP), is deemed important in the development and necessary establishment of heritage conservation councils and policies aimed at safeguarding the cultural heritage of the community. Once appropriately utilized, the local cultural profiles of these locales could help the LGUs in conceptualizing and implementing relevant programs, projects, and activities, anchored on cultural, social, and economic development.
The provincial government of Pangasinan, through the CPS and in partnership with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and various local government units (LGUs), has formalized a partnership for the implementation of the Cultural Mapping Project in the province.
The CPS logo is inspired by the concept of “ripple effect”, focusing on the Mission of the Center. The ripple effect starts with CPS being the repository of information, data, and knowledge about Pangasinan. The circles symbolize the Mission. All of the circles are identical yet growing, signifying how the information and knowledge gathered are transformed, utilized, and disseminated in order to make a lasting impact and thereby contributing to the development of Pangasinan.
